Habitat and Ecology: This sloth has only been recorded in the red mangrove forests surrounding the island, Isla Escudo de Veraguas. It has not been recorded from forest patches within the island. As far as is known, it primarily, if not exclusively, feeds on mangrove leaves (Superina, Miranda & Abba, 2010).
Geographic Range: Isla Escudo de Veraguas has an area of approximately 4.3 km² and is about 17.6 km from the mainland of Panama. Based on the area of red mangrove forest on Isla Escudo de Veraguas, the area of occupancy is estimated at 1.3 to 1.5 km² (Superina, Miranda & Abba, 2010).

Taxonomic Note: The pygmy three-toed sloth has only recently been described as a separate, and now, endemic species (Anderson and Handley, 2001).
Hi! All this info is really interesting! I like your videos (maybe not Kristen Bell, but that's just personal taste) I think it might pay to introduce the blog on the first page with a sentence or two about what the main idea of your blog is. Also, I think you might need to give sources for all the background info on this page.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I really like all of your videos. Your blog still needs an original figure though. Other than that, you covered almost anything there is to this topic; that's great. To be honest, I don't like sloth, they are too slow for me to love. Oh well, I will try to protect them with my heart anyway <3 Here is a question you may want to consider for your blog: "Is sloth beneficial to the environment? If yes, how?"
